Temporary Exhibitions
The Solo Exhibition “Right Angle” by the Artist Iurie Cojocaru
Through color, in Iurie Cojocaru’s work, the place known as “the pictorial space” acquires semantic and symbolic density, becoming substantial through the hierarchy of qualities by which the material asserts its presence. Color is the means through which the painter reveals his inner world and the courage of his own first-person “presence.” Through color he experiences and constructs himself, shaping the path of his heart which, as becomes clearly visible, is set upon a secretive and mysterious journey of becoming. Across all canvases, his soul questions itself and unveils its depths with a fragile and candid tenacity.
Iurie Cojocaru opens his eyes toward another sky, with the feeling that he is ready to step into a secretly new life, into a permitted dream. The painter summons to life vast lineages of shadows, beings of the uncreated, whose journeys through day and night dissolve into an “incandescent immersion” in the enigmatic and eternal nature of existence.
If in his previous exhibition, titled Vertical Dialogue, the Memory of Genesis was celebrated, now, in this new display of works, one senses that the painter wishes to communicate, through Right Angle, an orientation toward a certain secret, without objectively revealing what that secret may be.
The need for rhythm, rhythmic movement, layered harmonies, the return of “weak beats” and “strong beats” compel us to organize our vision within an extended duration, where aesthetic contemplation becomes, as in poetry and music, indebted to movement and rhythm, that is, to long time.
This is where what we earlier called “a different kind of knowledge” intervenes, a knowledge that allows the resulting whole to be called a “poem.” The colors and forms hold not only the meaning that arises from their sequence and placement within the composition, but also the meaning that comes from their concordance with something deeper whose presence, which we have named the “Subject” of the painting, though hidden, is decisive.

Artist Biography
Iurie Cojocaru (born March 17, 1971, Sadaclia, Republic of Moldova) is a visual artist whose work explores the subtle balance between the visible and invisible, between concrete structure and the ephemeral vibration of the moment.
From his earliest artistic explorations, his path has been shaped by a profound search for authentic visual expression. Although his creative journey initially began with music, the call of painting became the driving force that defined his professional course.
He graduated from the School of Arts in Cimișlia in 1989, continued his studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design at Ion Creangă State Pedagogical University in Chișinău, and from 1992 at the Ion Andreescu University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in 1995 and a master’s degree in painting in 1996. In the same year, he received the C.E.P. Diploma (Civic Education, affiliated with Yale University, USA), a recognition that highlights his interest in the interaction between art and society.
A constant in his professional development, the artist is deeply interested in the technical innovations of his own artistic evolution and emancipation, in the spiritual level of elevation he strives toward, and in his attention to both the general public and the expansion of his own artistic scope.
