Temporary Exhibitions
The exhibition, MIRCIA DUMITRESCU, drawing, engraving, sculpture, organized for the first time at the National Art Museum of Moldova, is structured around four major themes, according to the four exhibition rooms:
room 1 - ATTEMPT TO SCREW INTO REALITY
room 2 - The Path of Thought towards the Heart
room 3 Tell Me Where, When and How?
room 4 - Romanian Landscape with People and Saints.

The exhibition invites the public to an unusual, spectacular visual experience, monumental in vision and construction, with impressive artistic expressiveness.
Mircia Dumitrescu, born on 3 July 1941, in Căscioarele, Ilfov, son of Bălaşa (née Dospina) and Atanase Dumitrescu. Between 1955–1959, he attended the secondary cycle at the “Ion Neculce” High School in Bucharest. Between 1959–1965, he attended the courses of the “Nicolae Grigorescu” Institute of Fine Arts. Professors: Vasile Kazar, Eugen Schileru, Horia Teodoru, Gheorghe Ghiţescu, Stelian Panţu, Petre Achiţenie. From 1965 to 1978, he was a drawing teacher at High School No. 6 in Bucharest, obtaining his teaching certification in 1968, second degree in 1971, and first degree in 1975.
In 1967, he became a trainee member of the Union of Plastic Artists of Romania, and in 1969 – a full member. In 2006, he became a member of the Union of Hungarian Engravers and Lithographers, Budapest, Hungary.
In 2005, he collaborated with the Romanian Academy on the project launched by academician Eugen Simion for the preservation of Eminescu’s manuscripts, a project initiated by Iorga, Perpessicius, Călinescu and Noica. For their republication, he proposed an innovative printing formula, also achieved with the help of digital techniques, through which the reproduction of Mihai Eminescu’s manuscripts finally became possible, establishing a cultural reference point preserved for future researchers and collectors.
In April 2013, he was elected a corresponding member of the Romanian Academy, in the Arts, Architecture and Audiovisual section, and in May 2024 he became a full member.
