The collection of numismatics

The collection of numismatics of National Art Museum of Moldova counts 1577 pieces which entered the funds in the period 1970-1990 after they have been purchased from private collections. Besides coins and medals, there may be found in the collection plaquettes, badges and seals. With the exception of several coins that date back with the 4th century b. Ch. and 1st-4th a. D., the rest of the exhibits date back with 16th-20th centuries and are made of bronze and copper. The major part of the coins comes from such countries like Russia, Germany, France, Poland, Hungary, Sweden, Romania etc.
